What makes us amazing

The club currently has more than 200 members that mostly reside in the Morris, Somerset and Union County areas. We are a very diverse group abilitywise, agewise and genderwise. Some members went from the couch to their first 5K after joining our club. Others are running experts having run dozens and in some cases more than 100 marathons. We have some ultra folks as well as some who have done full and half Ironmans. We are non-competitive when running as a group and there is no pressure to "keep up with the pack.” Everyone is welcome and no one runs or walks alone. On any given day, if you want to walk a mile or 2, 5, 10 or even 20 miles, there will be someone doing the same and will be available for you to run with.

The ones who really RUN things

  • Robert Ashmun - President

    Bob is responsible for the overall direction and operation of the club. As president, his caring and welcoming attitude has grown the club numbers dramatically. He faithfully believes life is an adventure and loves bringing along others on the journey. 

  • Fran Croft - Vice President

    Planner extraordinaire, Fran, works hand in hand with Bob to develop the culture and community at AFRC. She diligently ensures no runner is ever left behind and makes every new runner feel like they belonged with us all along. 

  • Eugene Ma - Treasurer

    The money man, Eugene, is in charge of the club finances. Beyond being a dedicated runner he also is blessed with the task of chasing down our members for their modest annual dues.

  • Jackie Tyma - Secretary

    In addition to being club secretary, our beloved Jackie helps with club event planning and parties. It's not an easy job but somebody needs to know how to properly party.

  • Barbara Day - Member at Large

    Friend of humans and animals alike, member at large and veterinarian, Barb is always on board to lend a helping hand to the leadership team. Veteran club member and coffee queen, we'd be lost without her.

  • Victor Bader- Member at Large

    Member at large and chief baker, Victor takes pleasure in organizing weekly club runs and activities. He's a friend to all and always up for helping out his AFRC pals.
